Vacation Bible School at Grace House was excellent ground to sow into this year. Twenty-two precious children made professions of faith in Jesus, due to all the hard work of VBS coordinator, Kristin Melo, and her team of volunteers. Together, they all helped prepare an atmosphere where God moved in the lives of these 22 children - and all the others.
When Grace House members hear about Vacation Bible School, Kristin always comes to mind. She has been spearheading Vacation Bible School here for several years. She and her team of volunteers, 75-strong this year, never fail to amaze us with their creativity.
Pastor Eddie Lawrence said that 125 children attended the Scuba-themed event June 10-13.
The church was decorated from top to bottom in nautical decor. Kristin even enlisted the help of a Grace House small group to put together jellyfish streamers. Those streamers and hundreds of other decorations adorning the church were put together by volunteers beforehand.
Each morning, the children assembled and worshiped together and had a Bible lesson. Age groups then gathered for crafts, snack time, and activities outside, which were all coordinated with the Scuba theme. The week ended with water games outside.
I asked one little fellow if he liked VBS. “It was the best day of my life!” He said. Another little girl added “I loved every minute of it!”
Safety is always a priority at VBS, so safety precautions were firmly in place. Members of our security and medical teams were on hand the whole week to make sure everything ran smoothly.
VBS 2023 was a phenomenal year as well. Seventeen children gave their hearts to Jesus and 100 children attended. As you can see, VBS is well worth the investment. Please consider contributing your time and talents next year. It could make all the difference in the life of a child.
